The purpose of this study is to examine discussions held by politicians and experts concerning the concepts Christian ethics and Western humanism. I will examine the argumentation for and against the concepts Christian ethics and Western humanism, which finally ended in a resolution of using these concepts in the curriculum Lpo/Lpf 94. In this study I am using a qualitative method to examine how different opinions and views are expressed in two different committee reports, initiated by the Ministry of Education, as well as protocols from the debate in the Swedish Parliament.I will attempt to elucidate the political views of these concepts, which will become an integral part of the base of values in the curriculum. Results show that the politicians are unanimous regarding the content itself, but disagree of the thought of establishing the base of values in Christian ethics. But the discussion is ambiguous because the opinion of the politicians is that the concepts, especially Christian ethics, stand for general human values.

This 15 point level essay intends to carry out an ideological critic of the scientific humanism; the main question the essay asks is: do the Humanists practice a rational dialog. Kritik av värdegrunden : Att förankra en kultur

The values of the Swedish school system is said to be rooted in the ethics of Christianity and Western humanism. Critics say that this expression can be seen as a sign of an obscured eurocentrism when world-wide accepted values is said to be cared for by Christianity and the west. The purpose of this paper is to examine how the politicians argue on this issue, why the values of the Swedish school system should be said to be cared for by the ethics of Christianity and the Western humanism. I also want to examine if these arguments in fact corresponds with the worldview of eurocentrism. The examination consists of a discourse analysis review of, for example, journals of the Swedish parliament, which is later compared with the theories of eurocentrism.I believe the argumentation can be categorized in three main categories: first a conservative ideological perspective where they are driven by the notion that the Swedish culture could be defined by establishing and defending its foundations; a philosophical/religious perspective where they want to justify the indisputable values they believe should be maintained in the schools; a eurocentric/psychological perspective where they tend to express the Swedish identity by defining what is typically characteristic of ?us? and typically characteristic of ?the others?.

SammanfattningRelationen mellan religion och vetenskap är uttryckt i Skolverkets förmågor för ämnet religionskunskap på gymnasiet. Men hur presenteras det och humanism i läromedel för gymnasiet? Jag har i min undersökning av vetenskap och humanism som livsåskådning genomfört en läromedelsgranskning. I Sverige finns det inte en myndighet som granskar läromedel vilket gjort min undersökning relevant då jag jämför forskning kring vetenskap och humanism och ställer det mot innehållet i läromedel.Frågeställningar i min undersökning är: Hur presenteras humanism som livsåskådning i läromedel i religionsämnet för gymnasiet? Hur presenteras vetenskap i relation till religion i läromedel i religionsämnet för gymnasiet?Jag grundar min undersökning på fyra delar i min bakgrund, det är hur livsåskådning definieras.

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the new Swedish curriculum, GY11 brought with it changes to how non-religious world-views are presented in five different books in religious education, RE. The method used to analyze the material was a qualitative content analysis as well as counting the pages that dealt with secular world-views. This was later analyzed using philosopher Charles Taylors description and theory on secularization. This was used to identify secular processes as well as to define wether the books definition and description of secular world-views using Taylors concept of ?exclusive humanism?.The research questions are:? What are the authors writing about when describing the secular world- views?? What differences and similarities are there between the different editions prior and after the implementation of the new curriculum, GY11?? Are the secular world-views presented in a way that is compatible with Taylors concept of ?exclusive humanism??The results that are being presented are, first of all that the change between the different editions are not big.

The objective of this study was to investigate differences in the portrayal of Western European citizens and non Western European citizens in Hergé?s graphic novels about the young journalist Tintin. We wanted to see if the globalization during the mid 1900?s had an effect on Hergé?s way of portraying the world. We started off by selecting nine novels from three different periods of time, though we read all of the novels in The Adventures of Tintin.

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka sambanden mellan de olika värdena- humanistiska respektive hedoniska, som man har i ungdomsåren och hur de hänger ihop med människors välbefinnande senare i livet. Välbefinnandet senare mäts utifrån fyra beståndsdelar; partnerrelationer, familjeklimat, livstillfredställelse och psykiskt välmående. Därefter utfördes en korrelationsanalys för att kontrollera sambandet mellan välbefinnande och sociabilitet. Data var hämtad från en longitudinell studie som påbörjades 1955, kallad Solna projektet. Vid första tillfället var deltagarna 16 år och vi använde oss av data om välbefinnande när de var 35 år.
